Consulting, training, field trips and field work services

Oil & gas and carbon capture projects

We train people using first-class real-world data and up-to-date scientific knowledge

Expertise in modelling subsurface data of slope channel complexes and MTCs

YOU CAN HIRE OUR SERVICES AND INCLUDE US IN OIL & GAS TENDERS

We instruct your workforce to better read and interpret geological data, but we also transfer knowledge on the most recent advances in the understanding marine sedimentary processes from all across the research arena. We want people to acquire and retain knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) necessary to create the closest-to-reality geological models of marine petroleum plays with software like PETREL. We show real-world data and discuss how it best fit any given case study.

Learn from the largest video and photographic content in the market from some of the best outcrops of marine sedimentary sequences associated to ancient tide-dominated sedimentary systems, submarine channel systems, lobe deposits into fan systems, degradation complexes in submarine fold-and-thrust belts and salt diapirs.

Take one of our courses if you are...

... a professional working or aiming to work in the oil & gas industry. We are specialized in training professionals working in offshore frontier deepwater basins like the Magdalena Basin, Salinas Basin, any of the Indonesias basins, West Africa basins, offshore Angola Basin or Levante Basin.

... a student aiming for a Master, PhD, postdoc or job in the industry related to CO2 sequestration or oil and gas exploration in frontier regions. Save months of work during your postgraduate and postdoc projects: we will explain you complex concepts, share landmark scientific works and teach you basic workflows for your projects. These would take you more than one year to learn...in four weeks we commit to teach you all of these.

... a postdoc researching on marine sedimentology applied to CO2 sequestration or oil & gas exploration. PhD positions and postdocs are highly competitive: you will gain the highest standards of knowledge and skills in marine sedimentary architecture which will give you a big advantage over other applicants.

The need for specialists in marine sedimentology

The oil and gas industry will focus its exploration on deep-water plays during the coming decades. With our consulting services as well as inhouse and online courses you will stand out in CV selection and job interviews with oil and gas companies.

Public and private organizations will need professionals with a sound understanding of the sedimentary architecture of rocks where to store CO2

Visit the best outcrops of ancient marine sequences with our drones

Tens of hours of footage from the most spectacular outcrops on Earth combined with 3D outcrop models.

We combine public and propietary relatively low-resolution 3D models of outcrops with high-resolution footage of the same outcrop.

We will share with you proprietary video and photographic content from first-class ancient marine outcrops of salt diapirs and halokinetic sequences, sand dune and ridge fields, channel-fills, MTDs and lobe deposits: La Popa Basin (NE, Mexico), the Maras and Adana Basins (Turkey), San Fernando Canyon (Baja California, Mexico), Annot Sandstones (France), Sorbas Basin (Spain), Sierra Madre Oriental (Mexico) and Chiapas fold-and-thrust Basin (Mexico).

Topics we cover in our courses and field work projects

Salt tectonic plays

Some of the most promising exploration areas in marine settings are intruded and deformed by salt. Learn directly from one of the best places on Earth, with the instruction of the geologist who knows best the area: El Gordo Diapir, in La Popa Basin. This is probably the best place on Earth to learn on salt tectonics. We have mapped this case study to the extent that you will be able to observe below-seismic-resolution features potentially related to undesired migration of liquid and gas phases.

Submarine fold and thrust belts

Learn again from one of the best places on Earth, the Maras Basin, directly from the geologist who knows best the area. Be aware of the myriad of submarine channel-fills types and their dimensions. Get to know how contractional tectonics fractures and deforms channel fills and discover tens of different types of mass transport deposits that are part of degradation complexes controlled by propagation thrusts. The Maras Basin was a former renowned site for the organization of Nautilus field courses. We include all the former stops, supported by video footage, that were part of that Nautilus field course plus many other stops of even greater relevance in our online courses.

CO2 injection, migration and storage dependens on pore- to reservoir-scale heterogeneities that substantially vary from different types of tectonics settings, source areas and climate. We will show you unique data sets that reveal the distribution of facies that behave as either storage or seal in shallow marine and deep-water sedimentary sequences in complex settings like fold and thrust belts and salt diapirs that produce complex 3D structures in clastic and evaporite rocks. Discover all the nuances that can take your CO2 storage to undesired leaking.
